Combination Course

In the combination courses, (mini) group classes and individual classes are combined. You will study together in a (mini) group in the mornings and then in the afternoons you have the opportunity to study specific aspects of the language or discuss topics that are particularly interesting for you alone with a teacher.

An overview of the different course locations where you can take the exam preparation courses can be found here.

Cambridge Courses (FCE, CAE, CPE)

The Cambridge University Language Examinations are the most common language examinations, and they are offered for three different levels. The First Certificate in English (FCE) certifies a middle language proficiency level, the Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) certifies advanced knowledge of the language, and the Certificate of Proficiency in English certifies very good knowledge of the language. Examination dates are in June and December and for the FCE also in March.

Length of Classes

The duration of one lesson varies from school to school between 45 and 60 minutes. Please take note of the information on the individual schools' webpages.

Placement Test

At all schools, students complete a placement test on the first day of their language course. Students are seperated into language proficiency levels and groups based upon these tests. You can eventually discuss with your teacher the possibility of changing groups during your course if you are dissatisfied with the pace of the lessons. Even if you are registered for the individual course, you will still have to complete the placement test on the first day. The test helps teacher better assess students' previous knowledge of the language. Only in this way can it be guaranteed that lessons are optimally aligned to your needs. Your self-assessment on the enrollment form only helps the language school roughly plan how to organize their classes.
